We all love beer but let’s face it, we also know that it’s the sole reason for why we have that muffin top or a potbelly.

The good news is that this fizzy drink actually helps you live longer! In fact, this is just one of the benefits of this magical drink. More good news, this also means that all the money that you’ve spent so far on beer isn’t money down the drain. I would rather call it a good long-term investment!

So here are ten scientifically sound reasons why you should pour yourself a glass of beer right now!

  1. It’s healthy for your heart

Italian Researches have found that not only wine but also beer can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and that beer drinkers had 42 percent lower risk of heart disease compared to people who don’t drink beer.

  1. Say bye-bye to Kidney stones

Researchers in Finland have found out that those who drink beer everyday have 40 percent less chance of developing kidney stones. The researchers can’t exactly explain the link, but speculate that a high fluid intake not only makes for an excessive number of trips to the bathroom, but could also keep kidneys functioning properly.

  1. Keeps your eyesight on point

Canadian Researchers have found that a beer, specially lager or stout a day increases antioxidant activity that can stop cataracts from forming in the eyes. Now that’s something, isn’t it!

  1. Hello beautiful skin

Beer contains certain vitamins that can regenerate the skin and have a positive impact on pigmentation. Your skin becomes smoother and suppler.

  1. Reduces Stress

Researchers at the University of Montreal have found that drinking one or two brews a day can help reduce stress or anxiety.

  1. Strengthens your bones

According to a study, done at Tufts University, states that beer can help strengthen your bones. The study showed that people who had one or two beers a day had a 4.5 per cent higher bone density. However, the same study also revealed that more than two beers led to 5.2 per cent lower bone density.

  1. Helps sleep better

Lactoflavin and nicotinic acid are both present in beer, both these help in promoting sleep.

  1. Boosts your creativity

A study in the journal Consciousness and Cognition, proved that out of the 40 men who were completing a verbal puzzle the beer buzzed guys with a blood alcohol content of .075 solved the puzzle a few seconds before the sober ones.

  1. Instant confidence

Research has proved that the more alcohol you consume the more good you feel about yourself which indeed gives you confidence. In a recent study done by British researchers, participants who had consumed alcohol and those who hadn’t were asked to give a speech. The end result was that those who had consumed alcohol gave more positive evaluations about themselves compared to the ones who hadn’t had a single drop of it.

  1. Helps with digestion

A glass of beer especially dark beer contains a gram of soluble fibre. And we all know that fibre plays a very important role in intestinal transit.

Disclaimer: One or two beers a day can help you but if you go overboard then you won’t get the same results. Because as they say ‘too much of anything is good for nothing’.
