Yoghurt: New Cocktail Ingredient

Did you make a face on reading the title of this article? You’re not the only one. I flipped out too, when I first heard about yoghurt based cocktails. Bizarre! But then I tried to bring some objectivity on the matter and researched a little.

I have a list of yoghurt cocktails that you have to try as soon as possible

CANTALOUPE BOOZY SMOOTHIE SHOOTERS

Ingredients

  • 3 cups chopped cantaloupe
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup non-fat Greek yoghurt
  • 100 ml vodka

Preparation:  Blend the cantaloupe, lime juice and yoghurt until it is smooth. Add the vodka and garnish with cantaloupe balls and lime slices.

 

MIMOSA SMOOTHIE

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup champagne

Preparation:  Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until frothy. Garnish with orange slices.

 

GIN, JAM AND YOGHURT COCKTAIL

Ingredients

  • 60 ml gin
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml simple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Fresno Chili Jam (or similar chili jam)
  • 1 teaspoon Greek Yogurt (2%)
  • A sprig of fresh mint

Preparation:  Blend all the ingredients strain into a highball glass full of cracked ice. Garnish with the mint.

 

VANILLA YOGHURT COCKTAIL

Ingredients

  • 100 ml milk
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 2 apricots
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ice cubes (a couple of)
  • whipped cream (to taste)
  • cinnamon (to taste)

Preparation:  Blend milk, vanilla yogurt and lemon juice and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Add some ice cubes and apricot slices to the blend. Top the cocktail with whipped cream and cinnamon.

 

YOGHURT BERRY COCKTAIL

Ingredients

  • A piece of pear
  • 2 large strawberries
  • 5 blueberries
  • 2 or 3 teaspoon cane sugar syrup
  • Half a pot natural yoghurt (150 g size)
  • 4 mint leaves

Preparation:  Peal the pear and put it together with the strawberries, blueberries, cane sugar syrup and yoghurt into the blender. Blend for 30 seconds and pour it in a martini glass. Garnish with mint leaves.

 

JOAQUÍN SIMÓ’S PEARLS BEFORE SWINE

Ingredients

  • 60 ml gin
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml orgeat syrup
  • 1 teaspoon greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon lemon curd
  • 3 drops rose water

Preparation:  Add all the ingredients except the rose water in crushed ice and blend briefly. Pour into a coupe and top with rose water.
